Training classes
University Planning & Statistics (UPS) runs a pivot table training course available to Monash staff members wishing to use UPS data. Each session is divided into two parts. The first part outlines some of the basic functions and tools within Excel pivot tables. You will learn how to:
-
create a basic pivot table;
-
filter the data within a pivot table;
-
re-format the table by moving fields into different regions of the pivot table;
-
create different types of measures;
-
group categories together; and
-
re-order categories.
The second part provides background information on two of the main UPS pivot tables: admissions and enrolments. In this part you will learn about:
-
the measures contained within the admissions pivot table;
-
calculated fields within the admissions pivot table;
-
the difference between degree faculty and managing faculty in the enrolments pivot table; and
-
definitions of field of education and socio-economic status in the enrolment pivot table.
Training schedule 2009
The following are the UPS pivot table training sessions for 2009. The sessions are offered free of charge and provide training on the basics of using an Excel pivot table. The session will also provide participants with an overview of some of the key UPS pivot tables.
